House cleaning:

Replace soda with plain water:

Swap soda and other carbonated drinks, which will only gang up in your belly with plain water. Drink lots of water (at least eight big glasses of water) a day to reduce bloating. Bloating can make your tummy appear fatter than it is.

Sleep for 7 hours or more:

If you want to lose your belly fat fast, try to get more sleep. Studies have shown that those who sleep 7 hours or more a night lose twice as much fat and are less hungry than those who sleep less than 7 hours a day.

Eat healthy:

Remember, you are what you eat. The foods that you eat can play an important part in your body, especially when you are on a diet. Try to reduce the amount of calories from sugars and fats. Take whole grain foods and skimmed milk. Fruits and vegetables are a must in your healthy diets.

Why men fall asleep after sex


It’s a problem that leaves many women frustrated, but scientists have given men an excuse for sleeping immediately after sex. Men cannot help but fall asleep straight after indulging in sexual activity because their brains are ordering them to do so, a new study has revealed. In
the research, scientists have claimed the male brain is programmed to switch off after Orgasm.

In contrast, women stay alert so are more likely to be left staring at the ceiling in frustration.

Men were scanned during and after climax and it was found that the entire cerebral cortex, the brain’s “thinking” part, shut down during orgasm.

Then two other areas, the cingulate cortex and amygdala, triggered the deactivation of all sexual desire.

“These experiments give us the first hints as to what happens in the brain during orgasm,” the Mirror quoted Serge Stoleru, a French government ­scientist, as saying.

“For women it seems to be different,” he said.

Stoleru said that women do not have such a strong refractory period – which is a recovery phase when the body calms down.

That leaves them wondering why their partners have lost all interest when they want more of it.

Sleep 7 hours a night to prevent brain from ageing


Sleeping for seven hours a night can prevent your brain from ageing by an extra two years, according to a new research.

American researchers found that older women who slept for seven hours a night had far better concentration and memories than those who slept for nine hours. Those who got less than five hours were also found to suffer, the `Daily Mail` reported.


Scientists believe that those who restrict themselves to seven hours a night can prevent their brain from ageing by an extra two years, compared with those who get too much sleep or not enough.

Earlier research has shown that having more than seven hours of sleep a night can lead to weight gain and increase the risk of heart problems and diabetes. However, the new study is one of the first to link it to concentration problems.

The research, presented at the Alzheimer`s Association International Conference in Vancouver, Canada, looked at 15,000 women in their seventies over five years.

All the participants underwent regular tests to check their memory, concentration and attention span. Those who usually slept for seven hours performed far better than those who got less than five hours, or more than nine.

"Our findings support the notion that extreme sleep durations and changes in sleep duration over time may contribute to cognitive decline and early Alzheimer`s changes in older adults," lead researcher Elizabeth Devore of Brigham and Women`s Hospital, Boston, was quoted as saying by the paper.

"The public health implications of these findings could be substantial, as they might lead to the eventual identification of sleep-based strategies for reducing risk of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer`s," she added.

"A good night`s sleep is one of life`s pleasures but, once again, this robust research suggests that the quality and duration of sleep are also linked to our cognitive health," a spokesman for the Alzheimer`s Society said.

"We`re not saying you shouldn`t enjoy the occasional lie-in, but good-quality sleep, eating a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight and exercising regularly can all make a difference in reducing your risk," he said.

Pistachios can protect your heart during acute stress


Scientists say eating a handful of pistachio nuts a day can help reduce the damage done to the body by acute stress.

Experts at Pennsylvania State University have claim that the nuts help lower blood pressure and heart rate in difficult situations.

In a study participants were given a variety of healthy diets, some containing pistachios, some without.

The scientists then measured their subjects’ cardiovascular responses, first as they took a challenging mental arithmetic test and again as they immersed their feet in cold water.

The largest drop in blood pressure was associated with eating about 1.5oz of nuts a day.

“Daily events, such as a tight deadline or public speaking can increase blood pressure,” a newspaper quoted Dr Sheila West, lead author of the study published online in the journal Hypertension, as saying.

“These results are significant because they show that physiological responses to stress are affected by the foods we eat,” she noted.
